Keith McGavern, RPT posted this question re: Richmond Grand.;

"This piano has three mounting plates installed under the keybed,
professionally routed and evenly spaced. In the center of each plate is a
threaded hole for some type of potential bolt. Does anyone have any idea
why these plates exist on this otherwise ordinary small grand piano? There
is no evidence of any other out-of-the-ordinary devices in or on the piano."

Keith are the mounting holes set off to one side? If so it might be a
mounting arrangement for a Schulmerich Chime keyboard. All of the original
(read first hundred or so) were rather large and heavy. They were installed
with a swivel mount and some that I have seen were mounted quite
professionally. With the keyboard removed there is no evidence that it was
there, except for the three mounting plates.
   Or course there is another option, it concerns the mounting of the Jannsen
with the steel plate it's pinblock. You see, you take the Janssen and mount
it under the Richmond and.................
well you get the idea.
