Newton, Excellent post! (Of course it affirms my own observations!) One other advantage I have found with foam plugs- the amount of "damping"can be increased by inserting the plugs further... (or decreased by pulling them out further). Helpful during trade show, truckload sale, emergency concert work, any high noise environment.
