For about $20, you have a means of backing up 600+ Mb of hard drive stuff to a medium that will doubtless be around for 50 years or more (as opposed to magnetic media that will lose its magnetic-ness in 2-5 years, crinkle or flake and peel). Plus the back up that you make on the CD-R media is useable immediately, without having to be de-archived or retrieved as from tape.
