Jon;
"Why do I find the treble end of so many bass bridges (S&S pertikerly) being
vertically challenged or suffering from adhesive deprivation?"

 I have noticed this happening so often Jon that I always auotmatically add a
little extra to Steinway rebuilds because of it. Perhaps they put the glue
on with a roller and started from the far end, working toward the treble, and
the roller was not big enough to lay down a consistent layer, running out by
the time it got to the treble end. (just a SWAG) :-)
