To start with,  trim the wafer first. Not only will you be able to align the
ivory better
but you may also clamp the sides to avoid 'skating'.  I've seen a jig which used
two pieces of angle aluminium secured to a board. One piece was secured fast
to the board while the other could be adjusted (screws in slots) and secured
to fit key.
A notch in the board under the key alllowed a clamp to fit in. After a
minute or two (to allow glue to grab), the key is removed from the jig with
clamp still in place.
