About 1% to damage and 2% to failure (crack). Check out "Understanding Wood" Hoadley pgs. 116-117. The whole piont of the 1% rule is that the soundboard under goes compression set first then is more likely to crack. Most SB cracks start out as compression set or compression failure (cell damage).
