I had a handful of Kohler (Samick) grands that had squawking wires in the
guide bushings, and found that the wires were a very bumpy texture, bumpier
than most. I used flitz on the wires and fine tuned the lean bends to reduce
friction.

Once in a Baldwin grand I had a hard to find squawk that turned out to be a
small block of wood between the pittman and the rail not as fully attached to
the rail as it was supposed to be. The screws for tightening it down were
put in upside down, and so were inaccessible unless you pulled out the whole
system. Baldwin's tech, I think it was Kent Webb at that time, suggested I
add wood shim around the stems of the screws that showed from the side, and
glue in place to stabilize the movement that caused the noise. Haven't been
back for a while so I don't know if I did the repair well enough or not.
Thought I'd mention it in case somebody else runs into something similar.
