If the pin block area is really bad, you might try the other appraoch, and
that is to cut out the entire thickness of the block,and then replace that
section. It is actually easier than routing, because you don't have to match
the pin holes exactly. When you are replacing the pin block area, because the
block is open face, getting the pins holes in the exact place is not as
critical.

Speaking of matching holes, I do suggest making a pattern of the entire block
with mylar.
