Dear Eric, Just attended a very fine tech-session in Eugene given by Denis Wilkinson, a player-piano re-builder. He worked out of Moe's Pianos a few years, and still does the occasional prep-work on new grands for them. He's in the Portland area, too. His class was excellent (Trouble-Shooting Player Problems), and was a superb contrast to the morning class; Brian DeTar on "Basic Disklavier Service". We had both worlds represented (old and new players!), and learned a great deal from both of these guys. Were you aware that between 1910 and 1930 some 2,500,000 player pianos were built in the USA??? That 85% of the pianos sold in the country during that period were players or reproducers!?!? If your store manager has agreed to blow the bucks on this restoration, or if you have questions (...no dollars in the budget) for him, Denis Wilkinson can be reached at; (503) 246-3337. He says there's no real way to learn this type of work, except by reaching in and trying it (...so you're on the right track, eh?) or working with another re-builder. He had a copy of the Reblitz book; "Re-building the player piano", and it DOES mention your type of player in it. You may want to wander over to "Powell's Books" and order one. They can also be found in some of the supply catalogues... but at least the Reblitz does have a few words directly related to your piano. OK? Sincerely, Jeffrey T. Hickey, RPT Oregon Coast Piano Services TunerJeff @ aol.com ps- NOBODY likes to work for free, or spend time on the phone for LONG consults. I'd suggest that your dealership might wish to pop for a "Consulting Fee"... and get Mr. Wilkinson into the store for an "Evaluation", at the very minimum. (Heck... he'd be worth YOU paying for the consult... good guy, is Denis... yup.) ********IGNORANCE KILLED THE CAT !!!******** <<<<<<<<(Curiosity was framed.)>>>>>>>> Have fun, sir! ;>) jef
