Subject: agraffes...

Hi Mark!

No one I know likes to deal with agraffe repairs but we all have to do
them. You've got my sympathy!!! :)

The suggestion of using the modified screwdriver blade is a good one and
what I would try first (and at this point, as well). I "dedicated" a
long narrow-bladed screwdriver for this purpose some time ago by filing
a v-notch in the blade leaving two sharp points at the outer edges.(it
helps if these points are not exactly even with each other as the tops
of broken agraffes are rarely flat). Then I hardened and tempered the
tool to help it bite into the brass agraffe stub and also last awhile
too. It now has a tip protector made of scrap hammer felt and lives
in the drawer with my other agraffe repair tools, taps, etc.

The best source I know of on agraffe repairs is Isaac Sadigursky, RPT.
He regurlarly fields calls from more than a few techs on the subject. I
don't know if he is on-line but his phone is listed in the PTG
Directory.

Hang in there Mark and let us know "how it all comes out" :)
