  Greetings-
We need some details to complete work on an 1815 Broadwood
  square
  piano:
          1. The damper cloths are not original. What was the scheme
  used?
          2. All the brass bands around the tops of the legs were
  missing. Does
anyone know of one that we could use to have new ones cast? Or have
  4
  legs hanging around the shop?
          3. Does anyone know of such an instrument near New England
  that we
  could reference?
          4. Does any one make open wound strings?
          Many thanks

Rob, My earliest Broadwood dates from 1826 and the dampers have
already been replaced incorrectly .I have seen others with many layers
of what looks to be very thin bushing cloth glued so the cut ends make
contact with the strings.
I can show you some of these if you ever get to fitchburg. regards,Gene
Roe.
