Stan Your labor costs must be fairly high, no? While you may be saving on materials aren't you actually spending more time doing this than the three hours it would take to replace the set? I feel like adding one more "been there, done that" to this tubby problem. I once tried cigarette lighter refill butane. (At least I think it was butane). It was compressed gas and it came in a pressure type can. I sprayed it on the bass strings while still in the piano, freezing them stone cold. I then played the piano with the frozen strings. It was the most absolutely beautiful sound you could ever imagine. Just one problem. Not what goes up must come down, not what goes around comes around, but rather.....what goes down must come up...and as they warmed up, the unpleasant tubby sound was right there. Don't ask why I tried that....I don't even know. David Sanderson Pianobiz@juno.com
