You will have to remove the sustenuto rail and if I remember correctly, the 3 screws holding the damper rail to the belly rail. At this point the whole damper lift assembly can be pulled forward gently so as not to bend damper wires but enough to allow a long screwdriver to reach down through the strings to the 2 screws holding the damper lifting rail arm to the damper lifting rail. With these screws removed the rail lifting arm can be raised high enough to expose the flange screw and allow its removal. If you are getting no movement of the damper lift rail, all of the lifter arms should be removed and checked for repinning. Also check the sustain pedal upstop capstan. It is probably to high allowing the the damper underlevers to be stopped by the damper upstop rail. This puts a great strain on the lifter arm flanges and can cause more damage than just the center pins walking out. Tbis procedure may sound destructive but done carefully will work mush faster than removing all the dampers. Been there, done that. Norm Barrett Memphis, TN
