Schraffed bass strings

Hi, Steve,
    Baosendorfer schraffes their cores before winding.  I neglected to find
out if they twist their strings when I was there 20 years ago, but I would
suggest giving those bad ones another half twist and see if they sparkle up.
If not send them back or order repalcements from Mapes.  They are good about
covering such things.
