My English may be poor in order to explain why I think that the middle = strings are the=20 better in order to you do a temperament. When you use a rubber to mute the right side string, you may use this = mute rubber in two=20 directions: 1 =96 Put the rubber from right to left and the rubber will be behind = the right side string or 2 =96 put the rubber from left to right and the rubber will be over the = right side string. (to the left side string, change the directions) On the two cases the rubber forces the side string from or to the plate = and the string will be=20 in a different plane from the middle string. YOU NEVER FORCE THE MIDDLE=20 STRING. So the middle string will be always in the same plane and this is a very = good condition! My old German teacher said: always forces the side strings to the plate = in order to maintain=20 the plane of the middle string free from the plane of the side strings. = ( In some cases, if you=20 forces the side string from the plate, the plane of this string is in = front of the plane of the=20 middle string and the hammer can=92t to strike the string well!). In all cases when you pull the mute rubber from the place where it was = muting the string,=20 the string come to this original plane and....... MAY BE OUT OF TUNNING. = Because of this, in some pianos the PAP=92S mute is very useful because = it don/t forces the=20 side string to or from the plate. This is all. I would like to read this in a very good English! ROGERIO CUNHA - Rio de Janeiro IC MEMBER OF THE PTG ---------------------- multipart/alternative attachment An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
