Someday someone will have to explain to me what is so great about having
perfect pitch- except as an ego trip for parents who can brag that their Jane
or John has "it".  These parents seem to think it's some kind of great
reflection on their gene pool.  In 30 years of teaching (music) , I must of
heard this comment 20 times followed by my reply "what a shame".  I mean can
you imagine having "perfect pitch" and having to go to a band concert and
listen to those alto saxophones?  How about a local wedding reception band
that still hasn't figured out what pitch is all about.  How does the poor soul
with "perfect pitch" cope with that?
