I had him make it in a pear shape, so you have a two inch ball that tapers down to .75 inches. the ball can sit comfortable in hand and at a grand I use at 3 o'clock with thumb resting down at the ridge of the taper. (traditional method) I use it more like a wonder wand on the uprights. I think I have the best of both worlds with this hammer. The wood is Guatamalan Cocobolo.
