What is "Flagpoling?"

This is mahagony.  Compare the color to the oak floor to that of the
piano it becomes obvious.

FLag poleing is the tendency of the tuning pin to flex from the bottom
of the coil to the top of it support, be it pinblock in the case of your
S&S or plate bushings.

On Steinways the bottom of the coil should be no more than 1/8" above
the plate.
