The ear has a tendency to hear the upper end sharp.
Violinists, I find are the most (what's the word here). . . convinced;
that what they hear/preceive is . . . correct/fact.  I could go on about
individual stories but I'm sure you have encountered them.
I would like to say, just once to a pianist; 'you _demanded_the
piano to be on pitch, Why couldn't you get the same out of the
violinist/cellist, etc . . .! !).
