Re: damper felt question. I checked on the Bluethner I'm restoring (#25295...manuf. 1885) and the section of dampers you mention has front and back flats, *plus* a v-shape wedge behind the back flat felt...i.e. 3 felts per note. The damper felts on the key tails are covered by the thin woven cloth that is glued right down the back of the key end, just as you describe.
