Hammer strike point

As a general rule, the strike point on note number 88 should be between 1/8
and 3/32 from the v-bar contact. Most pianos will have a straight hammer line
though some, like Wurlitzer verticals and some others, with have a curve
upward in the tenor end of the treble bridge. Also some of the Baldwin grands
will deviate slightly around hammers 52-58 (approx). Assuming your piano has
a straight hammer line, use the hammer shank length established at note
number 88 to determine the remaining strike points/shank lengths. Simply
duplicate this length for the remaining notes. The key here is dry fitting
hammer #88 for the best tone before gluing. You will also want to test
samples throughout your scale for touchweight as an additional, or confirming
test, so as to prevent touchweight problems caused by inappropriate shank
lengths. Hope this helps.
