spinet repitition problems

Eliot,

There is a couple of things that cause spinets to work sluggishly or jam
that hasn't been mentioned yet.

1. A spinet that has the metal forks sticking out of the backs of the
keys will not repeat correctly if the sticker wires are bent in a curve
due to someone pushing the wire instead of the nut at the top to
reinstall the sticker into the fork!  It leaves the back of the key
suspended just above the rest felt.

2. If the dip is too deep or the jack regulation rail is too far back,
the jack will hang up on the felt on the back of the rail.  The key
hangs up at full depression and in check.

3.  Did you try tapping the tuning pins a little to be sure you have a
pin block problem?
