We use the Hands Off! Fallboard Lock and <knock knock> I haven't seen one
get ripped off of the case or broken. The only problem I've had is one
lock that started acting up (replaced it) and the darned gremlins that
love to take it off of the piano (students and faculty alike claiming to
have locked it when they finished, of course!). Pianotek sells 'em (page
D13) for $49.95 each. A good investment if you can train the users to
reattach it when they finish.

Regarding those bent steel "locks", while I was at U of Illinois, we had
to repair/rebend those *^&%! things regularly. Determined musicians, I
must say!
