or,
how I was defeated by bits and bytes.
Well, apologies for what may have been not just a few archive requests
of mine that found their way into this list. Wasn't intentional.
But, I have spent the best part of today trying to get archives using
the listserve to that end.
Results have been less than satisfactory.
The usual reason, I can't grasp what the syntax of the get archive
command is. At least, I can't seem to get my point across to the
listserve.
When I post a message to it, I get a number of similar error responses,
which tell me something, but not quite enough of what I need.
Looking at the help file, seems that the directory is constructed along
unix lines. This is, with a / forward/ between each directory and file.
When the files are presented through the index, however, they are delimited with
periods.
Thus, a file could be called 0634.95, to reside in the pianotech
directory.
According to the index, if this file exists, it would be called
pianotech.0634.95 I have been sending various versions of the format
using / using space, and using period, yet I have yet to retrieve one
archive
I did get a file not found message, once.
But, for the most part I get an error message.
Then, I worked something else out. This listserve needs to have the
commands in the subject line, from what I cansee.
I think I am beginning to crack it, but it's getting late, and the night
is short.
One more go I think, and then I'll put the system to rest.
I wonder if anyone has had better luck than I have had.
If someone can tell me the runes I'd be really greatful.
Many thanks for listening
regards
