Absolutely Debbie,

The fan blade chops off pieces of piano sound and sends it back to our
ears with a doppler-shifted pitch!  Just like the old submarine movies
where you hear the SONAR sounds in the background.  When sound is coming
toward you the pitch is higher than when it is going away.  When it
mixes with the sound your ear gets directly from the piano--instant
false beats!
