Now here's the ultimate fix for sticking dampers. I pulled the action from a no-name grand to give an estimate on action regulation and discovered little bulgy things hanging from the damper wires. Some had more than one bulgy thing. I finally realized that these were split-lead fishing weights. Someone had simply spread the weight apart enough to get onto the damper wire, then crimped it with a pair of pliers. If it wasn't so amateurish I would have thought it was clever.
