Greetings All,
I am at present hanging a new set of Abel hammers on a
7ft. Heinzman grand. Having to do a considerable amount of Felt and
Molding tapering to reduce the weight of the #1 hammer from 11.5gms to
10 gms to attain a 53 gm down touch weight, a thought has occured to me
that there seems to be very little in the way of weight specs, in the
various suppliers spec sheets. For those of us that have accurate scales
it would be nice if we could collectively pool our results. of fist and
last bass hammers and first and last treble hammers. This would help in
making the decision of what to replace an old set of cold pressed
hammers a littlt easier. The suppliers have come a long way in the last
few years in the variety of length and width of molding choices. This
extra piece of data would be the icing on the cake. If there is some one
on the list that has influence with the suppliers that would make it a
lot easier still.
I will measure and publish the next set that I change.
Regards to all.
