Del and list, Having now open my mouth, foot poised for chewing, I will say my experimenting was many years ago. I (and some other techs), glued up several hammers with tapered shanks, with several types of glue. We all could hear the difference between Hot Hide glue and bottled glues like Titebond. I personally have not tried Titebond II "acoustic(?)". While I have no emotional atachment to hide glue, I am used to it, and it does what I need it to do. I have heard of the gap filling properties of the new Titebond - is this the same stuff?- for repairing liner/soundboard detachments, and the feedback has been very positive. Thermoplasticity is a very important factor, so if it is as you say, this could be the beginning of a gradual gluepot phase-out. But I'm just old fashioned enough to want a room freshner that smells like hot glue if I abandon an old favorite. Cleaning tip: Rather than having the "clean-it-or-smell-it" problem in the gluepot, by the way, I use a small stemmed liqueur glass, which stands up stabily, but won't float in the hot water. Then all I have to clean out is the glass, not the pot. I get 'em at TARGET by the half dozen for about $8. Rig up a a wire cage to support the glass so it won't tip. Piece of cake. Steve
