John, Your instincts are correct that this instrument needs qualified service. Call Mark Burgett at (619)258-1460. He one of the chief service consultants for MSR PianoDisc (also the owner's brother). The bonus for you is that his shop is there in San Diego. Mark should be able to refer you to a trusted technician if he is not able to look at the situation himself. This piano should be able to perform well. The idea that the piano is "too much" for the PianoDisc system is rot. I think a more likely explanation is that the installer is using this as a catchall excuse to avoid having to spend the time to make the system work properly. I (and many others) have installed these in 9" pianos with excellent results. The trick is that each installation needs to be precisely set up individually. The problems that you describe indicate to me either a very sloppy installation or a woeful lack of maintenance - certainly not a deficiency in the design of the system.
