John: I do a lot of poly work and I've never been able to fix this easily. On the clear poly, I have used super glue, but not on the light colored polyester. If it is the keyslip (from your description), you could replace it. Or you will have to fill the crack and paint it (if you don't want to scrape it out and fill with the polyester.
