Whichever way you pound, soft or hard, when you're finished, pound hard on each note going up or down the scale, and clean up unisons afterwards. Then pound up or down the scale again and clean up unisons. That should do it. You want to make sure the player isn't going to put it out of tune with a fortissimo.
