Hi, Peter, The rim bolt hole in the plate are usually large enough to be able to shift the plate a little one way or another to adjust to the bridges. If the block is replaced it is neccessary to know the original plate position. It is also possible to make some changes if one wants to when replacing the block. Once the plate holes are drilled in the tuning pin area, measurements from the stretch and the rim are taken and recorded on the keybed, the pinblock can be removed. The new block is fitted to the plate, the holes are drilled in the new block, the measurements are marked on the bew block and then it is cut to fit the case, the plate will almost exactly reposition itself, but to be sure referencing the other two holes will make the position precise. Variations occur and it is always better to be able to replace the plate exactly than not know where is was. Newton
