Hi Jim, Right on! concerning those digital keyboards. Piano tone is more than the sum of copied tones. It's a blend, so the board vibrates uniquely for each harmony. Are all possible chords equal to 88 to the 88th power? Add 100 dynamic levels for each note and the possible sounds (vibrational patterns) becomes to the 188th power? Multiply more to cover for swell, sustain, una-chorda, etc. So what if the computer does synthesize all this? It's still only one piano and there are millions more unique pianos to go. It should take about 88 quintiligigananomegabytes to duplicate, and we didn't discuss the touch problem. Must say i do find these digitals fun but they always bore me after a while. -Mike (not sure about my math)
