Anne, List,

I've been using Elka MK 76 and MK88 since the early 90s. They are only MIDI
master controllers, no built in sounds. I went to these when I was doing road
work based on Keith Emerson's recommendation. The Elka has a very realistic
action, complete with aftertouch. My only complaint, as with all electronic
keyboards is that you can not feel letoff. This is not a problem when playing
loud stuff, but I can't be consistant in soft playing when I can't fell the
"bump."

Also, Fatar builds an excellent feeling controller. I've no doccumentation,
but I've been told that Fatar actually builds the action for the Elka
controllers.

Sound modules are a matter of personal preference. Everybody from Alesis to
Roland is makaing nice MIDI modules with lots of multi-samples. Get the one
that best fits your needs. I normally play in 5 to 9 piece bands. I use an
Emu Proformance Plus because it cuts through a mix well.

PERSONAL OPINION: Nothing sounds like or feels like the genuine article.
Even with the new physical modeling techniques, it will not be possible to
sample every possible nuance of a concert grand. In my particual case, the
950 pound weight savings is worth the trade-off.

Happy Shopping
