Kawai verticle damper problem? I'm stumped.

What it sounds like is a broken hanger bracket on the damper rod, or
maybe its just loose.  Often when an action is romove from the piano it
looks like the dampers are lifting even, but when the action is
re-installed the dampers are pushed bak a lot from their out of piano
rest position, and that is when the problem shows.
