OK, I accepted your challenge and got the guy on the phone. Correct, the guy's
name is Brad Wilson, Action Piano Service, Waco, TX It seems that Mr. Wilson
has spent the last 2 years restoring this piano. It's the only black piano of
this type he's ever seen so it must have been custom built, the only one of its
kind. He has seen a couple of other brown vynal covered Wurlitzer spinets but
they certainly were not as pretty as this one. He has completely gone over
this piano - disassembled and reassembled, it's perfect. He must have said, at
least 10 times, that he's a perfectionist and has spent much time on this
instrument. The finish alone is worth at least $10,000.

I said: So you've replaced the pin block, soundboard and bridges?

He said: They're perfect.

Me: So they've been replaced with all new?

Him: No, they didn't need it, they're perfect.

Me: How about the action? It must be new.

Him: Perfect, it's perfect.

Me: So you replaced the action?

Him: No, it's was perfect. I completely disassembled and reassembled it.

Me: Oh, I see. All new bushings and center pins?

Him: No, they were perfect. I inspected them completely, disassembled and
reassembled the action.

Then he said that it has all new keys. Special ordered in off-white to blend
in with the age of the piano. (I bet he meant keyTOPS.) He also said this
piano sounds like a St(didn't finish the word) well, it's the best sounding
spinet he's ever heard and he's been in the business for 15 years. He
certainly wouldn't have put this much time into a piano that wasn't exceptional
and worth every bit of the asking price.

I said: What is the asking price?

Him: Twenty-Eight

Me: Twenty-Eight Hundred?

Him: No, Twenty-Eight Thousand, just like the add said. This is the most
beautiful piano you've ever seen. Well worth a trip to Waco to see it.

Me: Silence, since I wasn't sure whether I should be laughing or crying.

Well listfolk, there it is. It was not a misprint. For only slightly more
than a used M or L, you can have a used Wurlitzer spinet, completely restored
by a perfectionist and appraised by a technician who's been in the business for
15 years and has tuned for the Waco convention center!
