List;

I tuned an East German Hupfeld upright today that was quite new. Does
anyone know anything about them? It tuned nicely although it was 25
cents flat.

We recently lamented the cruelty to Naugas for their hide for
Wurlitzers. We should also defend the poor Polys that we kill for their
urethane. Why are there so many pianos with this plastic put on them?
Is it considerably cheaper? You have to open up the piano to see if
there is wood in it or if the whole thing is plastic. The case parts
creak loudly too. How did the piano business get so fascinated with
this stuff?
