Hello List, Am I reading in recent posts that musicians and tuners just don't notice the temperament in music unless attention is called to it? Correct me if I'm wrong, but if that's the case, why labor so hard for perfect temperaments? and have that demanding guild tuning exam? Perhaps it's only noticed if something is wrong for the music. I do remember a sad story about a tuner decades ago who came to join the guild. He did a great job on octaves and unisons with good technique. His temperament was ???. When questioned, he said, "the temperament octave was set in the factory, you never change that!". My understanding was this person had been tuning for years and had a clientele. -Mike Jorgensen RPT
