Saddest, Temperaments, Hope

Hello List,
"Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting
different results." a quote from a profs studio which applies to pianos
and tuners! Money for R&D is a joke, Tuners tune ET only, No Romance,
The industry declines, customers don't tune pianos often enough,
Computers replace pianos as the sign of "culture"-- it's all related.

    Solution: CREATIVITY & NEW IDEAS.

Idea 1:Listen to Del Fandrich! Industry needs to put more into R&D and
get the public excited about it. Let's make these things better and
develope some new cool stuff.

Idea 2: Horowitz, Paderewski, Rubinstein are all dead. The only pianist
to make any "real" news since Cliburn is Heffgott and I don't see as
many Van Cliburn wannabes anymore. They've been replaced by little
Willies whose parents never cease reminding you how great the kid is on
the computer. These little ten year olds are complete with Bill Gates'
haircuts and glasses. This situation needs a change.
The concert pianist needs to be a romantic character not the typical
demented-neurotic loser who freaks over anything and has no life. Too
many like that!

Idea 3: Read Bill Bremmer Posts! Dare to dream! What if people were
excited about tuning their pianos because each time they did it they
could have a new and fun temperament to play around with? Offer a whole
menu of styles, accents, and nationalities. Marketed right, Yuppies
would gather around their pianos drinking expresso and discussing the
latest cool temperament. Maby they'd get their pianos tuned every two
weeks instead of three years.

If gregorian chant can make a comback and rock music can make money
anything can!
Pianos and piano tuners don't need to fail, just get some new ideas!
