More Money in Tuning/Servicing or Rebuilding?

Let's change the subject line.

Many of us got into this business unaware that piano service required
much more than tuning. Sucessful field service technicians embrace
repairs, regulation, and voicing, whether work is done in the client's
home, or in a small 'shop'.

Rebuilding is another kettle of fish which deals not only with your own
attitude about this kind of work, but also market forces that will
affect your success or failure. If no one in your area is set up to
replace a pinblock, you're prospects are pretty good. If there are a
dozen experienced rebuilders within a twenty mile radius and you're an
efficient tuner, stick to field service.

Someone said there is no money in buying, repairing, and selling
pianos. I used to do a couple every year and found it to be profitable
as well as educational.

The goal is to reach full employment as soon as possible. If you can
specialize later into areas that are more enjoyable and/or more
profitable, then do so.
