If you are trapping the jacks with excessive after touch you run a very real risk of breaking jacks if the player has a heavy touch. Especially in Steinways where the jack is two pieced. In this case it will usually just break that glue joint but it is still a pain. When I am regulating, one of my steps is to check this. With the key entirely through escape and after touch, continue to hold the key all the way down. Reach up and wiggle the toe of the jack. It should be able to at least wink at you.
