Hi Mike,
That seems to be a common problem.  I even had the same problem on a Kawai
KG-8C . It is especially bad when the piano is a recording studio piano and
the mike is real close. As soon as you mute the string the noise stops. 
Some people have just put a strip of tape on the offending section
portions.  It is almost to small an area to use a full width string braid. 
If you cut the string braid to half its width it will probably kill the
offending racket.
