Hey noble techs,

Just finished Susan K.'s latest offerings of humble
spit-and-baler-wire repairs, AKA World Class Junk in the March
Journal, and the rubber button install technique caught my attention.
Rather than endanger your fragile tuning hammer tip (they're more
delicate than they look!) why not place rubber-headed nail where you
want it, push it in until it stands on its own, and fold
lid/nameboard/piano panel overtop of it and press down. Been doing it
for years, on every type of finish, with great results. As Susan
sez... make sure you use good quality rubber nail heads, not the
dreaded plastic ones. Also saves on those #2 star tips...

Enjoying the "Walk on the Mild Side" of piano repair...

Keep it up, Susan!

Regards,
