I'm sure that all the HT haters would love to agree with you, Les but there are many, many documented opinions supporting the rejection of ET in the 17th, 18th & 19th Centuries because of what Micheal cited. Most certainly, music of three hundred years ago did not support rapidly beating 3rds. 1/4 comma Meantone (pure 3rds) was the most common mode of the time before Bach.
