Phil & all... The Amateur Radio Operators are organized to provide emergency communications in cases of floods, fires, etc. All free as by law "hams" may not recieve any compensation for their help. As I write this a call for volunteer operators went out in case we are needed for help with a wild fire in progress just 20 miles east of Helena, MT. 11 hams responded and are now standing by. I've been a licensed ham since I was a kid in 1934. PTG came into my life in the early 70's and I've always been rather amazed at the way the two groups do their thing "for each other". Thought you might be interested. I know several of you folks out their are licensed "hams" too.
