Perhaps somebody can help with this: An 1882 Steinway grand with a loose pedal lyre. The vertical supports (legs?) of the lyre are attached to the top member with the typical big fat dowels, but are not glued. Rather, they are pinned with removable pins the same as those typically holding the lid support to the rim of the piano. Now this system works after a fashion, but the whole assmebly is a little loose since the dowels are probably a little smaller after drying out for 115+ years. Question: I hate to defeat the original design by glueing and clamping the thing together, but does anybody have a better idea? Thanks. Kit Cleworth
