Guy, Rob, list,
The piano in Walt's office is a 6 ft. + Knabe that has not been used for
years. It was one of the pianos that was originally in Walt's office and
used to write numerous songs by the Sherman Brothers I spoke of earlier.
One time they had a film crew coming in to set up an interview with the
Sherman Brothers and they were going to be sitting and playing at that piano
for the interview. They asked me to tune it and when I went in the dampers
had turned rock hard. I guess it was because the room is all sealed up and
the piano was just a display.
I had to replace and regulate all the dampers and pitch raise and tune
the piano working all night because the filming was the next day.. I
enlisted the help of my friend Steve Schell who covers for me when I'm out
of town. What is interesting is that all night we were watched by security
while we were in Walt's office. There are very valuable collectibles and art
in there. I think Walt had or has two daughters which is why he created
Disneyland in the first place but there are two original Norman Rockwell
portraits of the girls in the office. The legs and lyre are very unusal on
that Knabe kind of like what you would see on a cruise ship piano.
