A loud bang sound ? :-), repeated three times on the first seven notes?

  Unfortunately some of the rustiest strings I have raised in pitch have given
the least problems with breakage, and some of the most vexing problems have
been with good looking strings.  As Ed indicated, just start tuning/pulling
.............BUT tell your customer beforehand that broken strings are a
possibility so that you cover yourself. Breakage is not all that prevelant, it
is just a big a.... pain when it does happen :-)
