So it might be very well possible, that when you renew the soundboard, you loose the former "personality". If you want to keep that personality, you had better renew the ribs. So what you do, is, you take out the soundboard. You make drawings of the ribs with numbers. You measure the width and height, and, if possible, you contact the maker of the instrument in order to get the correct downbearing. Then you plane down the old ones and replace them with fresh wood. It is not so simple, but it is that simple. Antares
