Dear Brian:
While it's very important to learn how to tune aurally, it sound like
you're already experienced enough to have learned ther are alot of
difficulties trying to survive on aural skills alon've been worth every
penny (SAT III is around $1600 now). Either get a used SAT II, or spring
for a new SAT III or the RCT (approx $800 software plus the cost of a PC or
Mac laptop).
The SAT III and the RCT are great tools, especially for pitchraises and
relieving the stress of feeling "how the @#??! can I get a decent
temperament on this PSO!!??" when you're really crunched for time.

Don't even consider any of the other products out there (except maybe
TuneLab, which I know almost nothing about; it's inexpensive shareware).

Best wishes,

Patrick
